BUSY BUSY BEE

I've been so busy this past week. Firstly, one of my closest friends from home came to visit for a few days. It was so good to see her, being at uni has definitely made me miss my old maties, no offence to the new ones like, there all pretty top too. We went out a few times, starting with the Little Comets gig at The Cockpit, which I loved, its a mint venue, so cool. Then we went on to some legendary yet chavvy place called BED. Yep, that's right, bed. Great name. Totally didn't fit in with our gig attire but never mind eh. We just chilled in our hungover-ness the next day, went out on the night again, then mooched about Leeds on the Wednesday before she had to leave. I had a really lovely few days, despite the hangovers.

As well as that, I've had netball 3 times this week. At the start of uni I went to trials for the uni team and luckily got picked for the match squad. I'm loving playing again, I missed it when I stopped, and its always good to keep fit when your out drinking quiteeee alot and not eating so good. So anyway, we train twice a week and have a match too. We lost our first 17-8 but won our second 28-12, hopefully we can keep that up.

I'm insanely busy with uni work at the moment. The first few weeks seemed really laid back but now the works definitely piled up and I have lots to catch up on over reading week, which is this week coming. I'm hoping to go home at some point this week for a few days seen as everybody in my accommodation has. Should be nice to see the fam, hopefully not too boring, it'll save me some money though at least.

Here's what I wore just to go into town for a little shop today (PS. ignore the netball trainers haha)

LEEDS STREET STYLE

One of the first tasks we were given for our course was a live brief from a company called Hebe media. They are a Leeds based creative consultancy who are organising Leeds' first ever digital fashion week. We were asked to go out and take street style photos that represented Leeds style.

I thought it was pretty hard at first, I'm quite shy so going up to people was the main challenge, luckily there were lots of 'fashionable' people milling about so I eventually got the task done after my initial wimping out.

I loved this look, it was so well put together; very classic and minimal.

The above look is the one I chose to send to the company, as we could only choose one. Her outfit was a really good mix of shops, with some of the items being vintage, some from boutiques or market stalls with a few high street things thrown in. The look is quirky and effortless and well accessorised.

SETTLING IN

This week has been insanely busy, I've barely had chance to sit down never mind blog so after finally getting sorted with uni work and the like I'm sitting down to blog.

On Monday we were given our first brief and then two more as the week went on so work is already starting to mount up, hopefully I'll keep on top of it. One of them involved taking street style photos around Leeds to possibly be posted on a Leeds based communication website. We have to have ten by Wednesday which isn't hard in Leeds, I'm in love with the style of most people here! It's just hard plucking up the courage to ask strangers for their photo, you can tell their thinking 'weirdooooooo'.

The rest of the week consisted of netball training, in which I found out I made the squad after trials, yeyyyy! Then lotsss of student shopping events and therefore overspending...whoops, a few drinks mini session at Mojo, the besttttt cocktail bar ever! and a night out at chavvy favourite Oceana, which was pretty insane. So yes, a pretty busy week.

This is what I wore for our night out in town. I looked pretty under-dressed in my boots and skirt combo compared to the rest of the room but never mind, I hate wearing heels these days. Sorry about the blurriness of this photo, I have no idea why it is but this was actually the least blurry!

CATCH UP

Since last posting, alot has happened. Education wise, I started and completed a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Newcastle College, selected Fashion as a specialism and finished with a Distinction. YEYYYY! This was the most challenging course I've done, way harder than A levels in my opinion and took up lots of time and effort so I was beyond shocked but so pleased when I got my final grade.

During the course I applied to 5 different universities to study Fashion Design and after receiving 4 offers and alot of deliberation I finally decided on Leeds College of Art. I loved the friendly vibe of the college, Leeds as a city is amaaaazing, and the course content really appealed to me.

Which brings me to now, I am currently living in student accommodation in Leeds after moving here 2 weeks ago. Its been a pretty hectic fortnight but I'm settling in well. My halls are nice, I've met some lovely people and I'm in love with Leeds as a place and hopefully as time goes on I'll figure out who I really click with cos if I'm honest I've only found a few so far. But everyone has said that'll come with time, and I agree. Its so hard to become instantly close with strangers in such an intense environment.

So yeah, that's you all caught up I think. Lots of other personal shit has gone down ha but that's all done now and really not worth talking about, everything happens for a reason has become my motto though for sure. I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into my course and I'm so happy to be somewhere new and exciting as opposed to being bored at home.

Anywayyyy, long catch up over, here's an outfit I wore the other day to uni, I'm really liking crazy patterned shirts at the minute. I predict buying quite a few over the next few weeks.

YO

Okay so I've decided to return to blogging after a brief lengthy hiatus. Mainly because now I'm at uni, I have found myself with alot more time on my hands than normal and all the stressful stuff that stopped me blogging before e.g A levels a and foundation are now done. Also, with me starting a BA hons in Fashion Design I reckon a blog's gunna come in handy at some point and will be beneficial to my studies.
You'll have to bear with me cos blogger has changed quiteee alot since I disappeared so I'm kinda starting from scratch. I'm planning on totally changing the appearance of the blog, its veryyy dated now but that's gunna take time too. Also, I've stupidly left my camera lead at home so it'll be phone photos for a little while.
So yeah, basically just giving those few readers I have a heads up that I'm back, hopefully for good. x

Holiday, oh holiday, best one of the year

Was planning on doing a style snoop on Sunday but I got a little sidetracked with the lovely weather and sat in the garden all day reading various magazines. We had a BBQ, twas very nice and I got a little, okay, very sunburnt.

Also, you may or may not know that I'm finally going on holiday tomorrow. 1 DAY! I'm off to Rhodes with a bunch of friends and I cannot wait. So I've also been spending time gathering together all my things ready to pack. This explains that lack of outfit posts as all my decent clothes are washed, ironed and ready to be packed. No, I still haven't packed yet. Woops. We have a kinda early start as we have to be at the airport for 8am so I'm trying to get everything prepared today.

First thing on the agenda was painting my nails and I thought I might aswell try something different, well, different for me anyway. I used Barry M 'Blue Moon' for the base colour then added a stripe of Nails Inc, Floral Street on top which I outlined with the Black Models Own Wah Nails nail art pen. I'll probably end up changing them a few times on holiday anyway as I'm taking a canny few polishes and I tend to get bored easily.

Anyway, I'll be back in a week with hopefully; 1.)lots of outfit posts from the hols, maybe even some from a few new faces, and 2.) a tan! Ciao x

Elbow patches and mismatched nails

Last night was fun, I did end up slightly sick, probably due to the fact I haven't eaten much so I'm still recovering today. Nothing much going on today, I'm just in the house doing odd jobs so I've gone for a comfy slouchy outfit. I bought the jumper a few weeks back and although I love it, I haven't worn it much because of its weird length which makes choosing what to wear with it hard. However, it so comfy and I do love elbow patches. The top/dress underneath is kinda fancy but with the jumper on top I think the length is perfect for daytime with leggings. The jewellery as always is from Asda, how cute is the owl locket? The nails are Nails Inc Jermyn Street and Marylebone High Street.
